Great Tools - Why we love ASANA and you should too!!

Asana -Task management for teams.

Working together effectively is the soul of any business but for IT companies it is the very essence of the project development life-cycle. IT industry as an organisation is all about being able to work remotely, in an industry people usually have to juggle a lot of tasks and commitments and so people end up working at different tasks at the same time which intern can cause a lot of confusion.

Why Asana ?

These are the major problems that arise during software development life cycle for any organisation.
  1. How do we keep track of who is doing what?
  2. How do I organize my projects and tasks over a full organizational level?
  3. How do I prioritize my tasks ?
  4. Half of my team is overseas , How do I interact with them on a daily basis and get the job done ?
The answer all these questions is a simple service Asana

What is Asana ?

Asana is a cloud based collaborative task management service which offers a simple solution to all the basic organisational problem any setup faces , developed by Dustin Moskovitz (co-founder Facebook) and Justin Rosenstein (former Facebook engineer) offers an intuitive interface which is very easy to learn and work with.

When Asana was announced, founder Dustin Moskovitz posed this problem: No matter how enthusiastically a company or team may adopt project management software (e.g. Basecamp, SharePoint, Pivotal Tracker), and no matter how purpose-built, how feature-laden it may be, the users inevitably end up resorting to such crude implements as Notepad and email.
The reason, he speculated, is that those overloaded suites are just too complex, and present too much friction between the thought and the action. So he came up with something that combined the simplicity of notepad with the resourcefulness of a Cloud based system.

Sounds Complex ... So how do we use it ?

Complexity is something which Asana gets rid of. The user experience is very smooth and intuitive, you don't even have to go through lengthy tutorials and "How to use" manuals to get started.

The whole setup is divided into basic atomic components called “Tasks”, these tasks once grouped together constitute a project. Tasks and projects can be assigned to people and we can even add people as followers to a certain tasks. The whole team can collaborate and interact via comments. Asana sends you an e-mail if any activity is recoded for a task that is assigned to you or you have been following. Users have the facility to reply to the comments using e-mail.

Tasks -> Subtasks

Tagging is one important aspect of working in Asana. Tasks and projects can be tagged and then later can be refined on the basis of these tags , eg tasks can be tagged as “High Priority” , ”Review Required” etc which can help us in effectively categorizing them.

Okay.. How portable is it ?

Asana comes with an iPhone and an Android app and supports HTML5 and is compatible across all mobile browsers.

Still not convinced ? Just take a look below.
